Jesus Christ

In an email group, GM wrote: If you think that JESUS CHRIST is just a human being and the prophet of God, then surely you are talking about the ISA of the Quran. I am repeatedly telling the people in this forum that JESUS of the Bible and ISA of the Quran is totally different. Our Lord JESUS is none other than the GOD Almighty or SON of GOD or SON of MAN, but your ISA is NOTHING but a simple human being and a prophet of Allah. PAUL did NOT make JESUS God, but the Bible clearly vouches for HIS divinity. Kindly do your home-works on your Quran first and then the Bible. It is my earnest desire that you and the rest of Muslim world believe in JESUS and have ETERNAL LIFE. May the Spirit of God open your Eyes to the LIGHT, your Ears to the TRUTH, and your Heart to His SON, the Lord JESUS CHRIST. JESUS CHRIST, the Almighty God, bless you all….!

Virgin Birth

Abstract
Virgin birth of Jesus is a matter of much debate. What we believe or not is a matter of faith, and depends on how we read and interpret the scripture(s). However, scientists have been studying parthenogenesis, the term used to describe virgin birth. Though virgin birth has been widely observed in nature, there are very few cases of experimental virgin birth in mammals, and no known cases yet in the wild. Combining observed phenomenon with emerging studies in Biophysics, and using analogies of known computing and communication technology, we can try to comprehend and appreciate the miracle of virgin birth.

Jesus – Ascension & Return

Abstract
Several people across many religions expect a Messiah to come save the Believers. Some Muslims believe that Messiah Jesus (Masih Isa ibn-e-Maryam) was raised alive and is with God, while others assert that he died a natural death. Yet others are in doubt. This also leads them to assert that there will be no second coming of Jesus. Based on some verses of the Quran, I believe that Jesus was raised alive and will return as the Messiah.

Dawah & Daee

Say, "To whom (belongs) what (is) in the heavens and the earth?" Say, "To Allah." He has decreed upon Himself the Mercy. Surely He will assemble you on (the) Day (of) the Resurrection, (there is) no doubt about it. Those who have lost themselves, then they (do) not believe.

Just as Allah, the Ar-Rehman, the Most Gracious, has decreed mercy (rehmat) upon Himself, similarly He expects His devotees to also not react, but rather respond peacefully:

And the servants of (God) Most Gracious are those who walk on the earth in humility, and when the ignorant address them, they say, "Peace!";

The Believers must first adopt and practice the guidance in the Quran themselves, and then, staying within the limits prescribed, invite others to the faith:

Revile not ye those whom they call upon besides God, lest they out of spite revile God in their ignorance. Thus have We made alluring to each people its own doings. In the end will they return to their Lord, and We shall then tell them the truth of all that they did.

Who is better in speech than one who calls (men) to God, works righteousness, and says, "I am of those who bow in Islam"? Nor can goodness and Evil be equal. Repel (Evil) with what is better: Then will he between whom and thee was hatred become as it were thy friend and intimate! And no one will be granted such goodness except those who exercise patience and self-restraint,- none but persons of the greatest good fortune.

The Believers are but a single Brotherhood: So make peace and reconciliation between your two (contending) brothers; and fear God, that ye may receive Mercy. O ye who believe! Let not some men among you laugh at others: It may be that the (latter) are better than the (former): Nor let some women laugh at others: It may be that the (latter are better than the (former): Nor defame nor be sarcastic to each other, nor call each other by (offensive) nicknames: Ill-seeming is a name connoting wickedness, (to be used of one) after he has believed: And those who do not desist are (indeed) doing wrong. O ye who believe! Avoid suspicion as much (as possible): for suspicion in some cases is a sin: And spy not on each other behind their backs. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Nay, ye would abhor it...But fear God: For God is Oft-Returning, Most Merciful.

And obey God and the Apostle; that ye may obtain mercy. Be quick in the race for forgiveness from your Lord, and for a Garden whose width is that (of the whole) of the heavens and of the earth, prepared for the righteous,- Those who spend (freely), whether in prosperity, or in adversity; who restrain anger, and pardon (all) men;- for God loves those who do good;-

Invite (all) to the Way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious: for thy Lord knoweth best, who have strayed from His Path, and who receive guidance. And if ye do catch them out, catch them out no worse than they catch you out: But if ye show patience, that is indeed the best (course) for those who are patient.

When we find non-Believers blaspheming against Allah or His Messengers and Prophets or vainly arguing about the verses of the Quran, the Believers are restrained by the following verses:

When thou seest men engaged in vain discourse about Our signs, turn away from them unless they turn to a different theme. If Satan ever makes thee forget, then after recollection, sit not thou in the company of those who do wrong.
On their account no responsibility falls on the righteous, but (their duty) is to remind them, that they may (learn to) fear Allah.

Did the Prophet or his Companions ever react to offensive speech, and if so, how?

Say: "Praise be to Allah, who begets no son, and has no partner in (His) dominion: Nor (needs) He any to protect Him from humiliation: yea, magnify Him for His greatness and glory!"

And ordain for us in this [the] world, good and in the Hereafter. Indeed, we we have turned to You." He said, "My punishment - I afflict with it whom I will, but My Mercy encompasses every thing. So I will ordain it for those who (are) righteous and give zakah and those who [they] believe in Our Verses.

Jesus - among those near God

In response to a question about evidence regarding Jesus' death in the Quran:

Based on what I've understood of the Quran, I believe that Jesus [Essa Ibn e Mariam] was raised alive and brought near to Allah.

Surah Al-Waqiah mentions three categories of people, among which the foremost in faith will be those brought near [أُولَٰئِكَ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ]. Interestingly, in the Quran, the only human being mentioned by name as among those brought near is Jesus:
إِذْ قَالَتِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ يَا مَرْيَمُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُبَشِّرُكِ بِكَلِمَةٍ مِّنْهُ اسْمُهُ الْمَسِيحُ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ وَجِيهًا فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ وَمِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ
When said the Angels, "O Maryam! Indeed, Allah gives you glad tidings of a word from Him, his name (is) the Messiah, Isa, son (of) Maryam, honored in the world and (in) the Hereafter, and of those brought near (to Allah).

In Surah Nisa, the angels and Jesus are mentioned as those worshipping Allah:
لَّن يَسْتَنكِفَ الْمَسِيحُ أَن يَكُونَ عَبْدًا لِّلَّهِ وَلَا الْمَلَائِكَةُ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ وَمَن يَسْتَنكِفْ عَنْ عِبَادَتِهِ وَيَسْتَكْبِرْ فَسَيَحْشُرُهُمْ إِلَيْهِ جَمِيعًا
[Literal (word-by-word)] Never will disdain the Messiah to be a slave of Allah and not the Angels, the ones who are near (to Allah). And whoever disdains from His worship and is arrogant then He will gather them towards Him all together.
[Shakir] The Messiah does by no means disdain that he should be a servant of Allah, nor do the angels who are near to Him, and whoever disdains His service and is proud, He will gather them all together to Himself.
[Yusuf Ali] Christ disdaineth nor to serve and worship God, nor do the angels, those nearest (to God): those who disdain His worship and are arrogant,-He will gather them all together unto Himself to (answer).

Interestingly, in Arabic grammar, present and future tense are both represented by the same verb. And so, the above verse can be understood as either in the present tense or the future tense. I understand it in the present tense.

The Living Matrix

Explaining the concept of the Living Matrix and why Creation must not be tinkered with, in response to an objection to concepts used to understand Virgin Birth and a related discussion about the return of Jesus:
SA wrote: Adam elahy salaam and his wife were born without any living matrix or water memory. Would you make them come back twice then?
alQuraan does not mention any return of anyone at all. Death is a point of no return and nobody can evade it. Stop wasting time in mythology and start following alQuraan.

My response:
Do not see those who disbelieved that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, then We parted them and We made from [the] water every living thing? Then will not they believe?

All living things are made from water. Every living thing is a living matrix! To get an idea of the living matrix concept, please search online or read page 8 onwards of this rather simple article:  http://www.energeticfitness.com/Support%20Files/Some%20Biophysical%20Bases%20for%20the%20Human%20Energy%20System.pdf

It is important to realise the wondrous nature of creation and to understand that tinkering with the software of creation can only corrupt it. We are in an age where advances in genetic engineering are bringing us a variety of treatment options. It is one thing to interact with the software as an end-user, like you use your computer, and its entirely another thing to make changes in the source code. Changes in the source code can either improve it or corrupt it. As Allah has created the software of life, any changes in the source code can only corrupt it! Hence the directive in Q30:30 and again in Q30:43
So set your face to the religion upright. Nature (made by) Allah (upon) which He has created mankind [on it]. No change (should there be) in the creation (of) Allah. That (is) the religion the correct, but most men (do) not know.

So set your face to the religion right, before [that] comes a Day not (can be) averted [it] from Allah. That Day, they will be divided.

The Quran is a living document, seriously relevant to our time! We need to heed to the guidance lest we inflict 'zulm' upon ourselves. The narrations of warnings given to people long ago are relevant to us again. We need to understand each and every warning, so that we are guided aright!

Second Coming of Jesus

IS wrote: ... many a Muslims believe that hazrat Eisa ,asw, will come in the ummat of prophet Muhammad, pbuh, as a prophet and sahih Muslims declares him as the nabiullah in his second coming, but Quran declares him as the prophet unto Bani Israel. So in these cases quran has to be taken as correct and ahadeeth needs to be interpreted according to the Quranic teachings or rejected.

My Response: At least two verses of the Quran indicate the second coming of Jesus:
In Surah Zukhruf verse 59 states:
إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا عَبْدٌ أَنْعَمْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَجَعَلْنَاهُ مَثَلًا لِّبَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ
Not he (was) except a slave, We bestowed Our favor on him and We made him an example for (the) Children of Israel.

and verse 62 goes on to state:
وَإِنَّهُ لَعِلْمٌ لِّلسَّاعَةِ فَلَا تَمْتَرُنَّ بِهَا وَاتَّبِعُونِ هَٰذَا صِرَاطٌ مُّسْتَقِيمٌ
variously translated as: http://islamawakened.com/quran/43/61/

In Surah Nisaa, verses 157-159 state:
And for their saying, "Indeed, we killed the Messiah, Isa, son (of) Maryam, (the) Messenger (of) Allah." And not they killed him and not they crucified him but it was made to appear (so) to them. And indeed, those who differ in it (are) surely in doubt about it. Not for them about it [of] (any) knowledge except (the) following (of) assumption. And not they killed him, certainly. Nay, Allah raised him towards Him. And Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise. And (there is) not from (the) People (of) the Book but surely he believes in him before his death. And (on the) Day (of) the Resurrection he will be against them a witness.

SA wrote: You have misundertsood these ayaatulQuraan and ignored clear ayaat against this Christian misbelief of the second coming of Esa elahy salaam and Jews misbelief of the second coming of the Messiah. Just because of the efforts of Bukahri and other liars.

Before I show you other ayaatulQuraan against your misbelief, let me ask a question based on your quote
And (there is) not from (the) People (of) the Book but surely he believes in him before his death. unquote
Can you please elaborate what do you intend from this. And where in those ayaat do you find the 'second coming:?

My Response:
For every news (is) a fixed time, and soon you will know.

As I continue to study the Mission of the Messengers mentioned in the Quran, World History according to the Quran and its Future Implications, I'm getting more and more convinced that the Quran is pointing to a major battle in the Middle East (Q6:92, Q28:59, Q42:7, Q48:16) between the believers and the followers of baatil after the appearance of the Creature from the Earth (Q27:82). I take People of the Book in that future context to include all believers including the ummat of Prophet Mohammad. Hence I take 43:62 to indicate Jesus' return before the Hour.

Q3:33 lists in sequence the chosen ones, and informs us that Allah has chosen the Family of Imran. Mohammad was from the lineage of Abraham, and Jesus is the maternal grandson of Imran, and of Imran's lineage due to Jesus not having a father.

Quran 4:157 is quite clear that they neither killed nor crucified Jesus.

As far as hadith and other sources are concerned, I have not studied them. Being a born Muslim, I have heard of these expectations of 'end-of-time' events since childhood. However, only recently, after I've begin to understand some of the messages of the Quran, I'm getting more and more convinced that the expected future battle between good and evil is going to take place, and eventually the believers will emerge victorious, and evil will finally be contained permanently!

And verily We sent Musa with Our Signs, that "Bring out your people from the darkness[es] to the light. And remind them of the days (of) Allah." Indeed, in that surely (are) the signs for everyone patient and thankful.

Which verse of the Quran clearly states that Jesus will not return?

SA responded: You have spun quite a web in your mind and thoughts. May ALLAH save you from yourself. Qayamat is described as an uncalculateable and a sudden event. Yes, the appearance of the talking creature to happen before it but are we sure that it is not happening as we are writing or reading these lines? What if Qayamat occurs before I get to finsih this message? Is it a possibility or not? 43:63, not 62, does not indicate the return of Esa elahy salaam. Have a look at 2:87 and 2:253.
Now for one second, let us presume that Esa elahy salaam comes back before Qayamat and do all that you guys want him to do for you. But when he comes back, will he not know what Christians are calling him and his mother? Will he not know that in the name of holy trinity they have declared them gods and God's child? Yes, he will learn all that happened after his ascension and that is clearly against alQuraan. See Suratul Maidah ayaat 116-119.
Wussalaam.

My Response:
And indeed, came to you Yusuf before with clear proofs, but not you ceased in doubt about what he brought to you [with it], until when he died, you said, "Never will Allah raise after him a Messenger." Thus, Allah lets go astray who [he] (is) a transgressor, a doubter."

And verily, We have written in the Scripture after the mention, that the earth - will inherit it My slaves, the righteous.

Please consider the above verses also.

Q43:61 is the number of the verse I cited, and not 62. Thanks for pointing out the mistake.

Nafs / Self / Inner Voice

A neo-pagan asked: I am curious, Samiya, what you may think regarding our inner voice that we are considering as a voice of spiritual, perhaps divine, guidance that leads us ever to follow a higher (?) path. This inner voice is not quite free will, but something other. It is some manner of beacon within our hearts that calls us to our more noble and compassionate destinies. Abraham Lincoln once referred to it as "our better angels" in suggesting that it is a divine voice that always urges compassion, kindness, love, caring, giving, and sacrifice for others.

As you have read in our posts, I'm sure, we have labeled it with more names than are useful, due to our obvious confusion and uncertainty about just what it may be. ... What is the, or more likely what ARE the, Islamic views and comments on this idea of an inner voice. Is it our soul/spirit speaking to us? Is it the voice of God, or some quality he has bestowed upon us to give us direction through life? It is also possible, though I doubt it, that Muslims reject the notion of any such 'inner guidance' (?).
...

Reply: The Quran uses the word NAFS to describe the SELF. This SELF is described by various adjectives, such as NAFS-e-AMMARRA, NAFS-e-LAWAMMA and NAFS-e-MUTMAINNA
The NAFS-e-AMMARRA is the SELF which urges us to evil [http://islamawakened.com/quran/12/53/]
The NAFS-e-LAWAMMA is the SELF which we speak of as our conscience [http://islamawakened.com/quran/75/2/]
The NAFS-e-MUTMAINNA is the SELF who's conscience is clear and is satisfied and contented with God, and God is pleased with this SELF. [http://islamawakened.com/quran/89/27/
Copied below are the last four verses of Quran Chapter 89. To read the entire chapter, please visit: http://searchtruth.com/chapter_display_all.php?chapter=89

The SELF is a real entity, something which the Quran informs us is taken by God when we sleep, and returned to those for whom death has not been decreed, and withheld from those whose death was decreed while they slept.

WHAT to call LIFE?

JM asked: ... do you have a distinction WHAT to call LIFE?
What life? human only, or "ANY"? including plant, microbial, inorganic, etc.?
Do the diverse kinds of such diversified life-listings have different Gods?
Do a rose struggle to get into the ROSE-HEAVEN? (or into the same, where we may prefer to spend eternity?) ...

Answer:
The following verses address some of your questions:

Present Creation
Do not see those who disbelieved that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, then We parted them and We made from [the] water every living thing? Then will not they believe?

And present to them the example (of) the life (of) the world, like water which We send down from the sky, then mingles with it (the) vegetation (of) the earth then becomes dry stalks, it (is) scattered (by) the winds. And Allah over every thing (is) All Able.

And not [of] any animal in the earth and not a bird (that) flies with its wings - but (are) communities like you. We have not neglected in the Book [of] anything, then to their Lord they will be gathered.

Glory be (to) the One Who created (in) pairs all of what grows the earth and of themselves, and of what not they know.

Creation in the Hereafter
Regarding the details of the wonderful life promised in the Gardens of Eden, they are intended as a delightful surprise:
And not knows a soul what is hidden for them of (the) comfort (for) the eyes (as) a reward for what they used (to) do.

The Quran does list some of the characteristics of the Gardens promised for the Hereafter. What strikes me is that the characteristics listed are generally those which scientists theorise as primary conditions essential for life, as well as those to not to age or decay. I've listed some verses at:
On the contrary, Immortality is also promised in Hell, but everything there will be in a state of decay, and thus great suffering will be the fate of those who must dwell there. The following are some aspects of that which I've tried to understand:

One and Only God
And they make with Allah partners - jinn though He has created them, and they falsely attribute to Him sons and daughters without knowledge. Glorified is He and Exalted above what they attribute. Originator (of) the heavens and the earth. How can be for Him a son while not (there) is for Him a companion, and He created every thing? And He (is) of every thing All-Knower. That (is) Allah your Lord, (there is) no god except Him, (the) Creator (of) every thing, so worship Him. And He (is) on every thing a Guardian.

Quran Chapter 27, verses 60-66 question thus:
1 Ta, Seen. These are the verses of the Qur'an and a clear Book
...
60 [More precisely], is He [not best] who created the heavens and the earth and sent down for you rain from the sky, causing to grow thereby gardens of joyful beauty which you could not [otherwise] have grown the trees thereof? Is there a deity with Allah? [No], but they are a people who ascribe equals [to Him].
61 Is He [not best] who made the earth a stable ground and placed within it rivers and made for it firmly set mountains and placed between the two seas a barrier? Is there a deity with Allah? [No], but most of them do not know.
62 Is He [not best] who responds to the desperate one when he calls upon Him and removes evil and makes you inheritors of the earth? Is there a deity with Allah? Little do you remember.
63 Is He [not best] who guides you through the darknesses of the land and sea and who sends the winds as good tidings before His mercy? Is there a deity with Allah? High is Allah above whatever they associate with Him.
64 Is He [not best] who begins creation and then repeats it and who provides for you from the heaven and earth? Is there a deity with Allah? Say, "Produce your proof, if you should be truthful."
65 Say, "None in the heavens and earth knows the unseen except Allah, and they do not perceive when they will be resurrected."
66 Rather, their knowledge is arrested concerning the Hereafter. Rather, they are in doubt about it. Rather, they are, concerning it, blind.
...
92 And to recite the Qur'an." And whoever is guided is only guided for [the benefit of] himself; and whoever strays - say, "I am only [one] of the warners."
93 And say, "[All] praise is [due] to Allah. He will show you His signs, and you will recognize them. And your Lord is not unaware of what you do."
